One In Christ, United In Mission

The Pontifical Mission Societies USA

This year marks 100 years of World Mission Sunday, an annual global celebration in the Catholic Church dedicated to prayer, solidarity, and financial support for the Church’s worldwide missionary work. Every year, on the second-to-last Sunday of October, Churches worldwide take up an additional collection for World Mission Sunday, which benefits the Pontifical Mission Societies (TPMS). TPMS are a worldwide network at the service of the Pope, providing vital support to mission territories where the Church is too young, too poor, or too persecuted to sustain itself. The theme for World Mission Sunday 2026 is “One in Christ, united in mission”, as announced by Pope Leo XIV.

At all Masses the weekend of October 17-18, we will participate in an additional collection for World Mission Sunday. Your generosity to this collection supports the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, one of the four Pontifical Mission Societies. A giving envelope can be found in your envelope booklet, or extras are available at the parish office or in the Narthex. Alternatively, you may choose to give online at the link below. Select “World Mission Sunday” from the fund drop down menu.

Last year your gift helped support:

  • Form 41% of seminarians worldwide
  • Build 751 new churches
  • Sustain 1,130 mission dioceses
  • Train 843,785 missionary catechists
  • Support 50% of all religious sisters worldwide

“Let us be charitable about the missions, remembering that the Lord who said: ‘Go teach all nations’ is the same Lord who bewailed: ‘I have mercy on the multitudes.'”

Blessed Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, National Director Of The Pontifical Mission Societies USA (1950 – 1966)
