Fall Series: The Story of the Scriptures
Nine evenings tracing the remarkable journey of how the Bible came to us — from ancient Israel’s covenants and prophets, through the apostles’ eyewitness testimony, the early Church’s careful discernment, centuries of translation and worship, the Reformation debates, and into our hands today. You’ll gain confidence in Scripture as God’s living Word while understanding why the Catholic Church has always been its guardian and interpreter.

Spring Series: Foundations of the Catholic Faith
Nine evenings exploring what the Catholic Church is actually built on — Christ’s gift of Peter and the apostles, the interplay of Scripture and Tradition, apostolic succession, the councils, hierarchy, canon law, and the magisterium. These aren’t dry structures; they’re the living foundations that make the faith coherent, trustworthy, and life-giving in every age.

Who Is Eligible To Take These Classes?
All adults are welcome to join us for this class series! This class is open to adults who are parishioners at Our Lady of the Lake, Catholics in the greater Holland area, Catholics throughout our Diocese, non-Catholics, or anyone interested in learning more about these topics. Join us in this journey of lifelong faith formation.
Lifelong Catholic Learning
The Lakeshore Academy for the New Evangelization (LANE) is a school of lifelong discipleship that proclaims the Gospel and empowers our Catholic community in West Michigan and beyond to live out Christ’s mission. The Most Reverend David J. Walkowiak, Bishop of Grand Rapids, endorsed LANE and blessed our classroom spaces at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Holland, Michigan. LANE and LANE Kids materials are available to Catholics throughout the Diocese of Grand Rapids and beyond.
LANE is a ministry of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Holland, Michigan. We began by offering in-person classes to adult learners in our parish, the Diocese of Grand Rapids, and beyond. In response to the pandemic, we started providing online learning opportunities in the spring of 2020. Now, in addition to in-person classes and speaking events, LANE offers an extensive catalog of self-paced online courses, webinars, and more.
