Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Adoration?
Adoration is the worship of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. We typically pray in silence while the Eucharist is exposed in a monstrance, but other forms of devotion are also permitted, including processions and benediction (when a priest blesses the people with the Eucharist). Adoration helps us to acknowledge and worship Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, worship Jesus and grow closer to him, and participate more fully in the holy sacrifice of the Mass.
In addition to our scheduled weekly and monthly Adoration times, parishioners and visitors are also invited to pray before the tabernacle containing the Eucharist during regular hours (8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. M-F). Our tabernacle can be found in our main Sanctuary.
What Should I Do During Adoration?
- Enter through the chapel doors and sign in.
- Spend your time before the Blessed Sacrament however you feel called. Some ideas include: silent meditation, spiritual reading, praying the Rosary, or praying for any intentions you may have.
- Sign out when you leave. If you have committed to a holy hour, please do not leave early. If no one has arrived for the next hour when your hour is over, contact the parish office.
How Can I Participate Regularly?
- Drop by when it’s convenient for you: All are welcome to come to Adoration for any period of time, short or long, without signing up.
- Commit to a Holy Hour: We need at least two parishioners to commit to each hour of Adoration (e.g. 5-6 p.m. every third Thursday, 10-11 a.m. every first Friday, 3-4 p.m. every Thursday, etc.). If you are unavailable a certain week, you can ask a sub to fill in for you. To commit to a holy hour, sign up online or contact the parish.
- Serve as a substitute: If you would like to be put on the list of subs, contact the parish. You will be notified ahead of time when we need a substitute to fill in.
Where Is Adoration?
We hold Adoration in our chapel. When you arrive, park in our smaller parking lot near our chapel and parish offices. Enter through the chapel door, and sign in.
The main doors by the bell tower are not guaranteed to be open/unlocked.
