The Parish Care Department has been working behind the scenes to help keep everyone in touch and informed while the pandemic has kept our faces and activities muffled. We are happy to announce that some restrictions have been lifted and we are able to resume some ministries:
Visitation to our home and facility-based parishioners has resumed. We are looking for several people to join this active team to bring the spirit of Christ in the Word, prayer, and the Eucharist to our community. Team members visit folks in their homes, living facilities, and local hospitals. There is a brief training and a background check is required. This ministry is very rewarding and those who participate feel that they receive far more than they give.
Blood pressure screenings will resume this fall. If you have training and experience in taking BPs (we do have an electronic monitor also) and are willing to give some time after a Mass three to four times a year, we would love to have you join us in this ministry.
BeFrienders Ministry is a listening and supportive ministry. It requires a training and apprentice period. BeFrienders is extremely rewarding. You will be matched with someone traveling through a life-changing experience for that period of their life. Matches last for a few weeks to several months.
An AFib support network/group is starting up. There has been a request to make supportive connections between those newly diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation and those who have been living with the diagnosis. Complete privacy will be maintained for those participating.
For more information on any of these ministries, please contact Pat Whitaker, OLL Parish Nurse, at 616-399-1062 ext 203 or email@example.com.
