Parish Picnic & Marian Procession

Following the 11 a.m. Mass on August 11

  • Parishioners are invited to bring flowers to decorate the processional statue of our Lady.
  • Please bring your own chair or picnic blanket.
  • Tables and chairs will be provided for the elderly and those unable to carry a chair.
  • Contact Miki Brierty, Hospitality Coordinator, to volunteer or to provide a side or dessert.

Our annual parish picnic is a chance to bring our whole community together around the time of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our parish patroness. We will honor our Lady with a short procession after the 11 a.m. Mass. Those who do not attend this Mass can join the procession in the narthex or outside the front doors. We will circle the building and end on the lawn near the corner of 152nd and James, where we will say grace and begin the picnic. Everyone is invited to participate in the procession, but you may also go directly to the picnic location and await the procession. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers provided by the parish and grilled by the Knights of Columbus, sides and desserts provided by parishioners, music, and lawn games. In the event of inclement weather, the procession will proceed to the hall and the picnic will take place there.
