Parish Picnic and Marian Procession
Sunday, August 14
- Please bring your own chair or picnic blanket.
- Parishioners are invited to bring flowers to decorate the processional litter.
- We need volunteers to help with the picnic and to carry the statue of our Lady in the procession. Please contact Cory Lakatos, Director of Community Life.
Our annual parish picnic is a chance to bring our whole community together around the time of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our parish patroness. We will honor our Lady with a short procession immediately following the 11 a.m. Mass. Those who do not attend this Mass can join the procession in the narthex or outside the front doors. We will circle the building and end on the lawn near the corner of 152nd and James, where we will say grace and then begin the picnic. Everyone is invited to participate in the procession, but you may also go directly to the picnic location and await the procession. There will be food prepared by the Knights of Columbus and parish guilds, live music, and games. In the event of bad weather, the procession will be canceled and the picnic will take place in the hall.
