If you have solo singing experience, or maybe even study voice privately, and love to sing, you are a good candidate for the cantor ministry. The training program consists of private sessions with the music director on vocal technique, if needed, and the study of liturgy and psalm singing, along with the comprehensive role of the cantor in a liturgy, tips on using the speaking voice, arm gesture, greeting, teaching music to the assembly techniques, and so much more! You will receive friendship, support, and personal growth, all in a user-friendly environment. Call Carol McAndrew to schedule your training sessions.
The Children’s Choirs sing at the Children’s Mass, which is almost always the third Sunday of the month at 11 a.m. (there are some exceptions). At Our Lady of the Lake, we have two choirs for young singers, organized by grade.
Little Angels Choir (Grades K-3)
Our youngest performers sing the prelude and preparation of the gifts songs, and will join with other children for Communion meditation songs. No experience is necessary. Rehearsals are the first and second Sundays of the month, from 12 to 12:45 p.m. (right after the 11 a.m. Mass).
Joyous Juniors Choir (Grades 4-7)
These more seasoned singers will learn about serving as cantors and prepare the psalms. They also sing more advanced choral and small ensemble songs in parts. These singers are great leaders for our Children’s Choirs! Rehearsals are the first and second Sundays of the month from 12 to 1:15 p.m. (right after the 11 a.m. Mass).
Newcomers are always welcome! Click here for a registration form.
